In the first of a two-part series, ABC News’ John Ryan and Matthew Lohr explain how to access a suite of new American Funds research tools that allow you to dive deeper into the money flows of American Funds stocks, bonds and funds.
The first piece of the puzzle is to sign up for the American Funds Financial Analyst service.
The first thing you need to do is get your account info.
If you don’t already have an account, you can create one.
Once you’re logged into the account, tap on the icon in the upper left corner to access the account manager.
From there, tap the blue “Log in” button to get started.
The second thing you’ll want to do before you begin is open the American Financial Analysis tab.
This tab displays information about your investments and holdings.
To access the information, tap “My Info” at the top of the screen.
From here, tap to see the top five columns for each of the four key investment categories:Cash flow, net income, debt/equity, equity return and capital appreciation.
You can view the top 10 stocks, the top ten bonds, the best funds, the lowest fees and much more.
You can also filter out the categories you don and don’t want to see.
You’ll also notice the “Other” column, which is where you’ll see the information about American Funds mutual funds.
You’ll also be able to see how much of the fund you’re investing in and how much it’s paying out in fees.
Finally, you’ll be able see how many years your fund is paying out, how much money it’s making and how many times it’s been reinvested.
To view these numbers, tap over to the “Investment Analysis” tab.
This is the second part of our series on American Funds.
In the third piece, we’ll take a closer look at some of the investment tools the firm provides.
